Scam Warnings (Posted 07/11/2025)

Email Scam:

A number of our members have been tricked by an email scam. These scam emails usually seem to come from someone you know, using the correct email address.  Often they initially ask you to confirm that you have received the email. If you reply, you may receive a follow on email asking you to buy gift cards on their behalf.

If you receive an email from someone you know asking you to buy gift cards for them (possibly claiming that they are indisposed for some reason), don't do it. Instead, delete the email and contact them by other means (phone, text/sms, whatsapp, but not by email) and tell them that you have received the email and that it is likely that their email address has been hacked and they need to change their email password.

Deliveries Scam:

Also, watch out for scam messages claiming to be from couriers. We are aware of a surge in scammers impersonating the delivery firm Yodel. These messages may tell you you've missed a delivery, need to pay an additional charge or that your delivery is delayed and instruct you to follow a tracking link. Always be suspicious of links in text messages and do not be tempted to give personal or financial details away without checking the authenticity of the message first.

If you are concerned about a delivery you are expecting, visit the couriers website directly by searching for it on your search engine. Or you can follow one of these links: Royal Mail, Yodel, Evri, DPD, UPS
