Katharine House Hospice have a supermarket collection at Tesco in Brackley on Saturday 19th September and still looking for some extra helping hands.
Please can you kindly share within Brackley u3a group, friends, family and neighbours, who might be interested to help support their local hospice, Katharine House on the day.
They are looking for volunteers to help for just 90 minutes at the following times:

Request for Research Project Participants, from a trainee Clinical Psychologist: (Posted 01/09/2026)
I am a trainee clinical psychologist from the University of Oxford and working within Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
U3A have very kindly previously shared my research project with members, and I am hoping I could ask the same favour just once more. The research is looking at worry in people aged 65+.
The study involves completing a questionnaire either via an online link or via a telephone/video call with myself and takes up to 30 minutes. Participants are offered a shopping voucher to thank them for their time.
We are struggling for recruitment, which is a shame as I think it is such an important area for research. Your members have been very supportive when the study was shared previously, hence me reaching out again.

Scam Warning (Posted 07/11/2025)
A number of our members have been tricked by an email scam. These scam emails usually seem to come from someone you know, using the correct email address. Often they initially ask you to confirm that you have received the email. If you reply, you may receive a follow on email asking you to buy gift cards on their behalf.
If you receive an email from someone you know asking you to buy gift cards for them (possibly claiming that they are indisposed for some reason), don't do it. Instead, delete the email and contact them by other means (phone, text/sms, whatsapp, but not by email) and tell them that you have received the email and that it is likely that their email address has been hacked and they need to change their email password.

10th Anniversary Celebration (Posted 23/10/2025)
The 10th Anniversary of the Brackley & District U3a was celebrated on 16 October 2025
7 of the original Committee attended and cut a cake which was shared by all 95 attendees at the meeting
Our 'Singing for Fun' group gave a concert at the Methodist church on 2nd July 2025 (Posted 22/07/2025)
Our 'Singing for Fun' group gave a concert at the Methodist church on 2nd July. The programme was 'Songs of the people' and included spiritual songs, sea shanties, songs of protest and worship. We also had a tribute to Ian Nixon, a long time member of our choir, and sang his favourite song, '76 Trombones'! We were pleased to see so many people from u3a; we also invited family and friends and had an audience of nearly 50. In Ian's memory we collected £134.70 for Cancer Research and for Katherine House Hospice £152.03. Thank you to everyone for your support.
